In dental prosthetics, various materials and techniques are employed to restore teeth.1 NiCr (Nickel-Chromium) metal restorations utilize a strong, cost-effective base metal alloy for crowns, bridges, and RPD frameworks, valued for its durability though nickel sensitivity is a consideration.2 For esthetics, metal frameworks can be veneered: Ivocron Full Facing involves completely covering the visible surfaces of a metal crown or bridge with Ivocron acrylic resin, while Ivocron Facing applies this acrylic only to specific visible areas. Similarly, Vitalium Full Facing uses a high-strength Vitalium (cobalt-chromium) metal substructure fully covered with an esthetic material, and Vitalium With Acrylic Facing describes a Vitalium framework specifically veneered with acrylic resin for combined strength and esthetics, common in RPDs. Ivocron JC and Acrylic JC both refer to full coverage crowns made primarily or entirely of acrylic resin, often used as temporary solutions due to their esthetic appeal but lesser durability compared to other materials. For extensively damaged teeth, a Postcore Full Metal Crown offers maximum strength by restoring the tooth with an internal post and core, then encasing it in a full metal crown. Lastly, a Metal Inlay is a durable, custom-made metal filling for chewing surfaces, while Vitalium Refacing is a procedure to replace or repair the esthetic acrylic facing on an existing Vitalium restoration, extending its lifespan.
